Lil Urchins Studio is the work of Marianne — an artist building one-of-a-kind sculptures from what the tide leaves behind. Sea glass, ghost netting, shells, seaweed. Nothing is taken alive. Each sculpture is photographed by the artist; the photograph is what travels.

Every sculpture begins on a walk along the New England coast. Sea glass, ghost netting, lobster bands, shells, seaweed — whatever the tide leaves behind becomes the raw material of something new. The beach decides the materials. The studio decides the story.
Snuggle Bunny — A swaddle of ghost netting, a baby held close against the prickly shell of the world. The softest embrace the sea left behind.
The Fisherman — Cap turned backwards, line cast, the morning ahead of him. Whatever he is waiting for, he has waited before.
Look closely: shells, two sand dollars, recovered netting, a Maine lobster band — all left behind by the sea, all given another life.
Farmers Market — Hat tipped against the morning sun, basket on her arm, off to gather what the day offers.
Look closely: dulse seaweed, sea grape leaves, a curled clam shell, bundles of dried sea vegetable, a soft tuft of natural finds — all left behind by the sea, all given another life.
Pappi — Hands in his pockets, sea-glass shades, hat tilted just so. He has all the time in the world. The Boss of the Beach.
Look closely: sea glass, seaweed, a sand dollar, shells gathered from what the tide brought in — all left behind by the sea, all given another life.
Whelk Season — Mussel fins lifted, mask down, a single whelk in the catch. Below the surface is where this one has been.
Look closely: mussel shells, sea glass, a recovered lobster band, a discarded straw, ghost netting, a whelk — all left behind by the sea, all given another life.
Sea Glass Liberty — Crown raised, torch lifted, tablet held close. What she stands for is whatever you bring to her.
Look closely: sea glass, layered shells, dark seaweed — all left behind by the sea, all given another life.
